Pilates Instruction and Alignment Based Body Work

Pilates is a mindfulness movement method encompassing the art of controlled movements with the goal of refining and fine tuning one’s posture. As a result one’s overall well-being will also improve.

When practiced with consistency, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops total body control and endurance. The Pilates method puts an emphasis on the coordination of skeletal alignment, complete proper breathing technique and the development of strong core awareness — all while improving overall coordination and balance. The “core”, consisting of the muscles of the abdomen, low back, and hips, is often called the “powerhouse”.

When awareness to the powerhouse is consistently awakened and strengthened, a powerful doorway is unlocked opening up a whole new world of stability and muscular tone.

Pilates exercises can be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced, as well as the exercises and sequences of exercises can be customized to compliment any sports, activity and other daily function. Intensity can be increased over time as the body adapts itself to the exercises, as well as it can be decreased to accommodate injury or illness.
